I’ll bet you don’t hear something like what I’m about to say very often. Losing weight is not the end-all and be-all there is to life. I’ve known some pretty awesome people who were overweight but very happy and healthy, and they lived to a ripe old, diet tip, age. Hell, they were a delight to be around.
There are other things in life to be happy about without looking like an anorexic stick insect. In the end nothing matters where so called peer groups or media pressure is concerned. I’d rather be happy than a conformist little sheep.
I can hear you saying: “But is it not unhealthy to be overweight?” My argument is that I’ve never seen it proven that being overweight kills people. Yes, obesity and stress, that is a lethal combination. Why did most people I knew who were overweight in the sixties and seventies die from old age or natural causes?
I’ll tell you why. Most or all of them had hardly, diet tip, any stress in their lives. They were happy and most did what they loved to do. They were happily married and… They were very active people.
You will find that most people who are overweight nowadays are unhappy with who they are. They put so much stress on themselves because they always want to be something they are not.
Call me crazy but I’d rather be overweight, happy and stress free than thin, overstressed and ready to die from an aneurysm. If you think I’m only talking and know nothing about your problems then think again and read about me on my website.
So I can hear you ask: “Where do weight loss and weight loss diets come into this?” Weight loss and weight loss diets can only really work when your mindset is right and it is for the right reasons you want to lose weight.
First become who you know you want to be and who you know you can be. Be happy by knowing yourself without thinking you know yourself from other people’s viewpoint or blindly following what everybody else is doing.
You only have one life. Don’t waste it on trying to live up to other people or the media’s expectations. When you can look at the perfect bodies of cover models and you can think, I wonder if that person is happy, I know I am, only then you’re on the right track.
For many years we have been fed on a diet of perfection.
They even had programs on television showing attractive people getting jobs ahead of their unattractive or overweight counterparts. It is all total bull-dust.
The real reason these people got the jobs was because they were totally confident and because people always told them they were attractive. Their counterparts on the other hand were not at ease and showed their uncertainty because we are fed lies about attractiveness.
People with confidence exude another sort of attraction even if they fail miserably later in life or at life.
The problem is that only perfection and attractiveness are promoted whereas mediocrity in appearance is always put down, even by parents.
Just look around you and tell me all successful people are attractive and I’ll show you quite a lot of very successful unattractive people with lots of confidence and wisdom, who last much longer than most of your Hollywood types.
Your life is about you and nobody else. Weight loss and weight loss diets can only succeed when you’re at ease and peace with yourself and do not need crutches anymore.
